New Computer!

Blogging from our new computer!!

I'll spend some time tomorrow posting updates (big updates!!) and photos! I can finally post pictures now!!

See you tomorrow!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I was trying to download photos from a few weeks ago. And gave up. Again.

So, you'll just have to do with some non-Thanksgiving photos until next week (or three, since it seems I'm behind on posts.)

Late last night we made a crock pot breakfast (lots of onion, bacon, hashbrowns and cheese!) and let it sit over night. Thank you, Pinterest. Johnny's parents came over to help us eat some of it, we still have about 10 servings in the fridge if you're hungry!

Yesterday I went to Winona, MN with Holly to get 80 trees and about 20 wreaths. I have a bunch of pictures I wish I could show you right now! But, you'll just have to be patient :) We're getting our tree from them this afternoon too! ALSO, Holly called early this morning to announce her and Josh's engagement - super excited for them. And, Josh - it's about damn time.

Ok, here's the last couple weeks!
Oh, first I have to show this photo. This is how I currently have to blog - from our tv, since my lap…

I've been attacked.

Bodyattack is a killer class.

My friend and I go to a bootcamp and our trainer also teaches classes at a gym nearby. She said we could come to her class this afternoon for free - so I couldn't pass it up! Since I had to drive to Cedar Rapids, I decided to go a little early and go to work, which I ended up watching two episodes of Last Man Standing (thank goodness for dual screens, right?). The class was intense! I'm glad I went and was able to check out the gym, I'm considering buying a 3 time a week pass, so I can go to more classes! They have different classes all throughout the day, but I'm especially interested in the 5:30 classes. I think I could have enough time to get there after work and still get home before 7.

So, I still haven't decided what to do about a computer. I actually haven't even looked at any yet either. I have the Creative Suite for a Mac, but VPN for work doesn't work on a Mac... it's a long story that I won't bore you with, …

Argghh, I just spent an hour seeing if I could load the software for my camera to Johnny's computer. This did NOT work. So, I may not be able to post any pictures until I either get a new computer or figure out how to download on this machine.

Today, I painted the hallway the same color brown we painted our office a few weeks ago - I'm really liking the cozy-ness feel to it. Other than that, I just went for a bike ride with Holly this afternoon around town, it was SO nice out! This weekend I attended a good friend's baby shower, it was such a nice turnout. We talked about how you wouldn't be able to manage without having a shower - especially after seeing all the goods she got. I totally forgot to take pictures, it wouldn't matter anyways, because I wouldn't be able to post them!

I'm looking forward to having the day off of work tomorrow, Megan and I are hitting up some shops to get some early Christmas shopping done - maybe I'll be ready this year?! …

Better make this quick!

My computer keeps shutting off as it pleases - so we'll see if I'm able to publish this post!

Today I ran in a first time trail run in Anamosa in the Wapsipinicon State Park. One word to describe how I felt the whole time: horrible. There was more hills than flat running area, it was just rough. My mom came along to take some pictures:

The pictures make it look as if it was a beautiful fall day - don't be deceived! Hehe - it was pretty, just kind of windy and cold. Johnny had suggested going to Zio Johno's after the race, so when we had about a half mile left Laura and I started chanting "pasta, cheese, desserts!" over and over - it seemed to work for a while (not really).

Here are some pictures of the last week:

This "Russ" sign is a painting I started last night, I'll slowly keep adding to it. This is what I have so far and will post an updated picture as I get more done.

The other photos I was trying to post aren't loading!

Tomorrow night I…

Memories of my grandpa

Here's my attempt at something more in depth... My brothers and I spent A LOT of time at our grandparent's house growing up, and luckily I have many memories of those days. I happened to find a frame my mom gave me a while ago with the pictures below, of me and my grandpa, I'll find some of my grandma and I as well. I realize I was one cute kid (right?) in fact, as you see below, I believe I tried to smile that big just to see how big I could make my smile. I wish I still smiled like that!
I'll just make a list of the most memorable things from those days (the good 'ol days, eh?) because I'm not quite sure how else to go about it. These aren't in any certain order, in fact I'm sure they'll be straight from memory - whatever comes first!
1. I vaguely remember getting my boots stuck in cow poop and him lifting me out, while having to leave my boots in the poop. I mean, that's what grandpa's are for - right? To get you out of trouble!
2. He had con…

Pumpkins, anyone?

Saturday afternoon I went along to the pumpkin farm with Rachel, Zeb, Caleb, Holly, Josh and Lily - it was quite the trip! Below, I made a collage of the day - it was fun but exhausting! Holly, Rachel and I agreed next time we'll pick easier pumpkins and template to carve. I'm not kidding when I say it feels like I was in an accident yesterday, because I was leaning over that darn pumpkin for what feels like 3 hours carving!

Later that night we watched the guys play in their band and actually last the WHOLE night! This morning we went to breakfast and then I went shopping with my mom. She found some good stuff at Kohl's, while asking every five minutes: "Ok, I like this - but now, what do you think I should wear under it? Something like what I have on? I just never know." Oh, mom - no matter what you wear I'll still love you, even IF it's tennis shoes and a dress shirt!
Yesterday, in no time at all, I lost two hours on Pinterest. I couldn't stop lookin…

Oh so tired....

I can't believe it's Sunday night already, I'm not even sure we had a weekend! I guess I'll start this post backwards and talk about today and go through our week.

First off, tomorrow is our two year anniversary! I don't know where the time has gone, but we've been married two years and together almost ten! This may sound weird i guess, but I really do love him more today than I did yesterday and each year we're together continues to get better. I told him the other day that no matter how crazy my life may be with family and/or friends or at work, I know I have him to come home to - and that's all that matters.

Here's us almost ten years ago:

And here's us on our wedding day:
It was such a beautiful COLD day that went so fast and that I wish I could do over again. I say I'd want to do it over because next time I wish I could relax more and enjoy it more than I did, and not be worried about things going wrong or how I looked. But, I know I made …

My husband can COOK!

Yeah, he just handed me a steaming bowl of jambalaya with a beer - seriously could a Monday night be any better?

Anyways, I wanted to blog tonight to show the world our new washer and dryer. Yes, you've got that right I'm blogging about a washer and dryer. So. What.

Doesn't it look SO COOL? It makes music too!

I just ate two bowls of this steaming wonderfulness - guess I should go lay on the couch.

Just another busy week...

I can't believe it's Sunday already - I feel like I've barely been home! Yesterday we went to go see Sarisa's baby and her house! Brynn is such a sweetie - such little petite features.

Pretty soon Teresa will be holding her own baby!

We had lunch at Granite City and was able to see her husband there too!

Saturday night was pizza and movie night (except that Johnny fell asleep 10 minutes in to the movie ;) ) We made two homemade pizza's - soooo good I forgot to take pictures!

Today I went to work for about four hours - this time of year is crazy! My aunt and cousins were in town so I met them for lunch on my way home from work.

We're watching Bridesmaids right now. Oh my gosh. This movie is hilarious! I love the SNL girls. I'm also reading Bossypants right now - also good!

Tonight I was getting out Halloween decorations and found a pumpkin headband we'd been given last year (I was just attempting to post a picture of this, but it takes too long! I'll …

Ya gotta have patience, man.

Let me start this post by talking about my afternoon. First of all, why would anyone ever thing doing a "popcorn" ceiling was a good idea? Hmmm? Maybe ours was just faulty.
This afternoon I decided to continue using the brown-ish paint to paint our front entry way. It's a tiny spot, so I figured it would take an hour, two tops. Before I started, Johnny mentioned painting the ceiling because it did look pretty bad. So, I set out painting the ceiling and started to noticed little paint balls were coming off EVERYWHERE. I was so annoyed and didn't even snap a picture. At one point, I realized there was a bare spot on the ceiling from all the little balls coming off. I knew Johnny had his hole filling scraper thing in the other room, so I ran to get it (of course before laying out a towel, sort of) and the ceiling junk came off with barely ANY effort at all! I had globs of little painty balls all over the floor, but it was really kind of satisfying peeling the ceiling of…

I was a sophomore in high school. I remember where I was September 11th 2001 - in study hall from band, hanging out in the commons when the attacks came on tv. Not much was accomplished that day, other than watching this horrible event play out on tv. Johnny and I have been glued to the History Channel all day - we've been watching 102 Minutes that Changed America. There were a lot of things I'd never heard or seen before, ever year it's so hard to realize that actually happened.

10 years ago doesn't seem that long ago, but since then I've met my sister for the first time, graduated college, got married, watched my little brother graduate college, bought a house. All things I never would've seen had I or members of my family been affected by 9/11.

Wheew - how to continue this post after talking about 9/11.

Here's how our weekend played out!

Friday night I cleaned (and watched Caleb ride his bike!) while Johnny and Zeb worked in the garage on Johnny's ad…

I'm an aunt - again!

Today, my nephew was born! Sterling Deren Brooks Brandt, and it sounds like he gave his mom hell! I still don't know details, except that he was three weeks early and ended up being c-section. From what I hear, having a baby is quite exhausting, so I suppose I'll give them some space for a few days. I'm hoping to hear more soon though! As soon as I have pictures, I will for sure post them!

"Auntie Em, Auntie Em!!" Like in Wizard of Oz - get it? That's me!

Ok, gotta be out the door around 6 am (this is my goal!). Night!

Labor Day Weekend

Holy FOOD weekend! Wow - I think I ate way too much today. We hadn't had a Hardee's breakfast in over a year, so we thought today would be a good idea! I honestly don't know why I thought it was ever good! The biscuit was way to oily and salty - just too much!

Where did I leave off? Let's see...

Saturday morning my mom and I went to the farmer's market in Cedar Rapids and found a few good things! And then.... the rain came!
I bought a potato bread that I later cut up to eat with a spinach dip that a friend had given me for my birthday! After the market we got our nails done, they did a wonderful job - only it was SUPER expensive! Good thing it was my birthday ;)

That night we tried to watch the ISU game on tv, Johnny had bought the game online and we watched it on our tv - the last half. Their website was down most of the first half - so that was a bummer. BUT! They won! I didn't really mind who won, since they were playing the school I went to! UNI!

Sunday, we …

It's my birthday! Don't ask how old I am.

Last night my lovely friends showed up with a limo and took us to a winery! It was beautiful! We did a tasting and ordered a few pizzas. We ended up getting to sit and taste/eat in the reserve room ALL to ourselves! They let us go on to the balcony and take a few pictures as well. I was so happy we picked this place - it worked out perfect!

I should probably tend to our guests - I'll post more tomorrow!
